The operation

FlyteBoat is a commercial passenger operation, not a demo. Boats run 8am to 7pm, weather depending, on scheduled island trips, on-demand water taxi runs, commuter routes and private charters, seven days a week through the season. Break-even came within weeks of launch. A commercial partner operates the Templar boats daily, which means the boats have to work every day, on someone else’s schedule, in real Halifax weather.

FlyteBoat One

Templar 26. 12 passengers, enclosed, heated. The flagship on the George’s Island and McNabs Island runs.

FlyteBoat Two

Templar 20. 8 passengers, enclosed, heated. Water taxi and charter duty.

FlyteBoat Three

Templar 20. 8 passengers, enclosed, heated. Added as demand grew.

Where they run

Cable Wharf, Alderney (Dartmouth), COVE, RNSYS and the Northwest Arm, George’s Island and McNabs Island. Short, high-frequency crossings with multiple rotations a day: exactly the duty cycle electric propulsion is best at.

Transport Canada compliant

Certified captains, modern life-saving equipment, Transport Canada compliance. The vessels operate inside the Port of Halifax marine safety framework alongside ferries, tugs and cruise traffic.

Charged and swapped ashore

FlyteBoat’s hub at COVE holds a four-bay hot-swap charging shed. Depleted modules charge ashore while the boats keep working. It is the same swap workflow behind Templar Beacon.

Why electric works here

Quiet

No fumes, no engine vibration. Passengers notice.

Right duty cycle

Short crossings, charged between runs.

Local support

Built for this harbour. Fixed at the dock.

Live data

BeaconOS logs every crossing.

Peak demand

The world came to Halifax. FlyteBoat got them to the regatta.

FlyteBoat was the official electric water taxi for the 2026 Optimist North American Championship, ferrying sailors, coaches and families along the Northwest Arm every day of the event: 300+ passengers a day, 11 days straight, on three electric boats. No refuelling runs, no diesel fumes at the dock.
